WHAT IS A CHIROPRACTOR/CHIROPRACTIC CARE?
Chiropractors are spine, muscle, joint and nervous system experts. We are extensively trained in how to evaluate, diagnose, recommend and deliver a treatment plan that manages issues related to the neuromusculoskeletal system (NMSK).
Chiropractic care is a highly skilled service that focuses on alleviating pain, identifying and solving the root cause of pain/dysfunction, and also improving quality of life. Treatment plans are based on the best available evidence, combined with clinical expertise, and patient preference. They will also help prevent pain from returning and restore your mobility.
And in Ontario, you can visit a chiropractor without a referral from a doctor or other health care professional.
WHEN SHOULD I VISIT A CHIROPRACTOR?
Whether at home, work or playing a sport/activity, our daily lives can create unwanted stresses on the body. As a result, you may suffer from persistent headaches, back, neck or joint pain. You may also pain due to an injury, accident, illness or long-term condition. Taking pain relievers and anti-inflammatory medications may temporarily alleviate your symptoms but may not address the underlying cause. If you are considering an alternative approach to your health and managing these symptoms then visiting a chiropractor may be right for you!
HOW CAN CHIROPRACTIC BENEFIT ME?
Chiropractic care can benefit you in the following ways:
HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WILL I NEED?
The number of appointments you may need largely depends on the diagnosis of your condition and the severity of your pain. Your health history and pre-existing conditions may also play a role. All of these factors will be discussed on your first visit. We will closely monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
It is important to remember that chiropractic care is not a life sentence. It is designed to identify the root cause of your problem and provide a long-term solution if possible.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT
Your first visit will include some detailed information regarding your health history, a discussion about the nature of your injury/problem and a thorough physical examination to help identify your pain and limitations. A proposed treatment plan will be created that will outline the frequency of treatments, estimated length of treatment, more information about your problem, active care options (home exercises, lifestyle modifications) and short-term/long-term goals.
